Legacy System Modernisation

Technical Problem

The legacy ERP, CRM, mainframe or bespoke database systems that businesses have run for years — and that sit at the centre of their workflows — cannot technically accommodate AI integration.

Architectural solution

We weave modern RESTful or gRPC-based intelligent API services and adapter layers over your existing systems without disturbing their core architecture or halting their operation. Using event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ) we turn data flow into something real-time, and we convert the irregular data coming out of legacy systems into AI-ready data schemas.

Operational outcome

An integration that leaves the legacy system in place and running: AI reaches the existing data and operations while the core architecture is left untouched. Every flow is opened behind a reversible step, so the point to return to is defined before anything goes wrong.

Starting Conditions

This service applies when AI has to reach a system that cannot be replaced or stopped. Two things have to be on your side: a copy of the legacy system, or at least a read-only window into it, and one person who knows its data model. Documentation is usually absent; the knowledge lives in people, and a few hours of that person's time is the most critical input to the work.

How We Work

We read first: before writing anything we watch how the system behaves. Then a single flow is connected end to end through an adapter, with the rollback path written on day one. Event-driven design is used only where the legacy system can carry it. Load and failure tests run against a copy, never against production. If the comparison holds, the second flow follows; if not, we stop and talk about why.

Out of Scope

We do not rewrite the legacy system and we do not take over its licensing or support. We also do not repair the quality of the data inside it: we make inconsistent records visible, cleaning them is separate work. If the legacy system has no safe path for writing, we say so — forcing a path that does not exist means stopping a system that has run for years, on our account.
